Christopher is lively eleven-year-old who attends Wesley-Rankin’s Beakers, Base 10, and the Beat (B3X) summer enrichment camp and afterschool program. Your gift will enable academic and developmental support for Christopher and 300 West Dallas students like him.
Q: What is your favorite memory from Wesley-Rankin?
A: The B3X Explorers! It happens every summer, and every week you at least get to go on one fun field trip. My favorite one was when we went to the zoo.
Q: You’re in robotics club, right?
A: Yeah. I learned how to build a robot.
Q: Tell me how to build a robot.
A: You need a battery, a control system, and wheels, and some more body parts.
Q: If I gave you those parts could you build a robot for me?
A: Yeah!
Q: What do you want other people to know about what Wesley-Rankin has meant to you?
A: That if they are not coming here, they are missing out because – at first I didn’t like it, I was crying because I didn’t want to come – but then like Shellie and Natalie and Sarah gave me encouragement. They cheered me up. I came for two weeks and that was all it took for me to like it. I told my mom to take me there every single day.
Q: Is there anything you look forward to doing in the future with Wesley-Rankin?
A: Yeah! Like I’ve been thinking about it, and maybe I’ll work here!
Q: What makes you want to work here?
A: The memories. The memories I would have here.
