Volunteers at WRA Program

Volunteering with WR Aspiring Professionals

WRAP Coach Requirements:

 * 3+ years of work experience

 * Able to commit one complete school year (September – May) of coaching support for students

 * Attend coach training offered every fall

 * Complete the Wesley-Rankin volunteer onboarding process

Wesley-Rankin Aspiring Professionals (WRAP) cultivates the talents of high school students to increase their college and career successes.  Students who complete the program find themselves on a pathway to earning a living wage in a career with upward mobility.  WRAP uses a 4-part approach: post-secondary preparation, soft skill coaching, financial support and education, and family engagement.

WRAP coaches begin working with students in their second year of the program. During weekly meetings, lead a small group of students in discussions and reflections. Coaches are paired in order to best support one another & the group, resulting in small groups of 2 coaches with 3-5 students. Wesley-Rankin provides all curriculum to encourage students and coaches to expand upon instruction in soft skill development like time management, goal setting, and professionalism. After a year of weekly coaching, coaches will shift to meeting in person with their small group once a month with weekly phone check-ins (10-20 minutes) during the weeks between meetings. We ask that WRAP coaches commit to the full school year to maintain strong relationships between students and coaches.
