Volunteering with WR Aspiring Professionals

WRAP Coach Requirements:

  • 3+ years of work experience
  • Able to commit one complete school year (September – May) of coaching support for students
  • Attend coach training offered every fall
  • Complete the Wesley-Rankin volunteer onboarding process

Wesley-Rankin Aspiring Professionals (WRAP) cultivates the talents of high school students to increase their college and career successes.  Students who complete the program find themselves on a pathway to earning a living wage in a career with upward mobility.  WRAP uses a 4-part approach: post-secondary preparation, soft skill coaching, financial support and education, and family engagement.

WRAP coaches begin working with students in their second year of the program. During weekly meetings held Wednesdays from 6:15-7:15 PM, coaches lead a small group of students in discussions and reflections. Coaches are paired in order to best support one another & the group, resulting in small groups of 2 coaches with 3-5 students. Wesley-Rankin provides all curriculum to encourage students and coaches to expand upon instruction in soft skill development like time management, goal setting, and professionalism. After a year of weekly coaching, coaches will shift to meeting in person with their small group once a month with weekly phone check-ins (10-20 minutes) during the weeks between meetings. We ask that WRAP coaches commit to the full school year to maintain strong relationships between students and coaches.
