Wesley-Rankin Community Center

Wesley-Rankin Celebrates Over
100 Years of Service

Wesley-Rankin Community Center was founded in 1902 as the Greater Dallas Board of City Missions.  It began in as a settlement house for immigrant children and families in downtown Dallas. Our history includes 4 different locations of service before settling in West Dallas in 1934.

While the location and specific programs have varied over the years, the founders original intent, to help families in the greatest need to care for their children, has continued until this day. Wesley-Rankin made many important contributions to early social service in Dallas, including the right for Mexican children to attend Dallas public schools in 1913, and continues to help its community find a voice through partnerships established to provide improved health services, housing, and education.

Wesley-Rankin has celebrated hundreds of Head Start children entering elementary school with over a hundred high school graduations, 15 college graduations, 60 GED graduates, 400 students completing computer literacy training, and hundreds more completing some form of combined program efforts.  Wesley-Rankin serves over 41,000 meals each year and offers food assistance through People and Nutrition, Food for Families, and a community garden.

We have a proud past and a promising future!
